Seth and I are hiking our cold little butts over to Seattle tonight for Christmas! Today is my last day of finals at school (which I now know as a teacher can be just as mentally taxing on our end as the students’…WHEW), and we are catching a red eye to the big WA late tonight.
So…it’s going to be a really relaxing day/night…oh wait…FALSE. But it will be totally worth it. Seth’s brother and his girlfriend live in Seattle, so Seth and I, along with his parents, are heading up in that direction and are coming back on the 27th for another little late Christmas with my side of the family.
You know what happens when you get older, all your siblings get older, and you all get married? You have like a million little “fake Christmases” every year. One Christmas usually falls on actual Christmas day, but the other “Christmases” are a week or two before or after. Does your family do this? We usually have at least three our four. A few that go between both sides of our families, and then one for just Seth and I.
Seth and I had our fake Christmas this past weekend. We did all our usual Christmas traditions and everything…Christmas movies and driving around to look at lights on Christmas Eve, cozy Christmas pj’s, breakfast casserole on Christmas morning, stockings, presents opened one at a time, and a bunch of other little things.
It was so much fun! I know some people out there think that fake Christmases are sad since they aren’t on the real day, but I think it emphasizes even more the real meaning of Christmas. Instead of making it about getting presents and having it on the “right” day, this makes it even more so about spending time with those you love and celebrating what Christmas is really about. Nahmean?? I like real Christmas, but I like my fake Christmases, too ❤️.
SO – since I will be in Seattle for a while and then celebrating another “fake Christmas” with my side of the familia, I will be MIA from the blog for a bit. I’ll miss you all! I’m taking my “Christmas break.” Do bloggers get Christmas break? I am making a rule that we do, and I’m taking it! I’ll see you all sometime around the New Year. Have the best Christmas EVER (fake and real)!!!
