Weekly Cleaning Checklist (with free downloadable)

April 17, 2015 by Annie Chesson 21 Comments

Make cleaning more manageable and less overwhelming with this weekly cleaning checklist! It comes with 2 types of lists for if you have kids/don't have kids - both are free, downloadable printables!

I have never been someone who is great at keeping my whole house clean. I really wish I was one of those UBER naturally clean people whose homes are always immaculate…that would be awesome. But, nope! Not me. Seth is the same way.

The downstairs stays clean-ish…like surface clean. This place hasn’t been dusted in I don’t even know how long. And the upstairs is almost always pretty messy.

And I HATE it when the house is messy. Hate it. It just stresses me out and makes me anxious to be in a cluttered space. And I love, love, LOVE when it’s super clean.

This cleaning checklist is seriously the best thing EVER. Whenever we use it, our house is sparkling. If you can commit to a solid 45 minutes to an hour of cleaning a day, this list is achievable. At first it takes a teeny bit longer when your house is messy as it’s starting point, but as you get going for a week or two, you fly through it.

I have 3 kids. So my 45 minute – hour block of time happens little bits here and little bits there. I get my main chunk of it out during nap time, but if I pay attention and try and keep things generally clean-ish when they’re awake, I spend much less time during nap. Seriously, you guys, if you are horrible at cleaning like me or just need more of a structured system, this is your ticket! Print your list out, get it laminated, stick it to your fridge, and BAM. Dry erase marker check your way through a satisfying day and end the night in a sparkling clean house. It’s the best!

I have two lists below, one for if you have kids and one for if you don’t (because that changes the nature of your cleaning pretty significantly – helloooo toys everywhere. Hiiiii diaper caddy. Lookin’ at you guys.)

View the “I have kids” version below! There’s a downloadable link under the image.

This is probably a long shot but this list is sooo much cuter than the one I was putting together. I’ve found that having a list like this really helps when it comes to trying to do chores when you have ADHD. Could I get the PSD file, please? Thanks!

    Dear Annie,

Love your schedule and blogposts! Love the fonts, layouts, colors etc of your schedule (and I have looked at so many!) – please could you send the PSD file? We live in the Gulf so our off days are slightly different than in the West. Thanks again, Annie :)

        Hi Annie,

Thank you for sharing this beautiful resource. I was wondering if you could send an editable PDS to me so I can use in my primary school classroom! :)

        Many thanks,
        Megan

This is wonderful! I have been trying to organize a weekly cleaning schedule for me and my partner and this is a great tool for us. Can I ask for the .PSD file to personalise? Please email me at bedazzled_witch@yahoo.com. Thank you for this! Xx

Living on your own will be a handful if you really have no time in cleaning. For me who has no time, and a bit lazy, I too hate having a dirty or messy apartment. This scheduled list might really help me manage my time at least and keep my apartment clean.

Ok, this is amazing Annie! Lately I have been so bad about cleaning. Which means on Saturday morning I am spending like 4 hours cleaning. Not the funnest way to start off the weekend. This checklist is just what I need!

This would be perfect for you, Natalie! If it can make me be diligent about cleaning, it can make anyone diligent about it. Our apartment is still sparkling clean!

OMG this is kind of scary that this schedule is my exact cleaning schedule! I do those rooms on the exact days that you have listed here. I am one of those OCD people that has to clean every single day and I need a schedule in order to do it. I just have my schedule by room, but I love the idea of this checklist. It will help me to make sure I don’t forget anything. Great post, Annie :)
