Basic Alfredo Sauce

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pasta
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups milk (I use 2% but you can use whatever)
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese (fresh is best!)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Boil your pasta according to package instructions, drain, and set aside
  2. Meanwhile, melt your butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. When melted, whisk in your flour and let cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, whisking constantly
  3. Add your milk, whisk to combine, and season with salt and pepper
  4. Bring to a simmer and simmer until thickened (the cheese will thicken it further)
  5. Add your cheese and garlic powder, stir to combine, and season to taste with salt and pepper
  6. Stir in pasta and serve!
