Okay. This is totally one of my new healthy faves. Scratch “healthy faves” and replace with just “faves” in general. The word faves is starting to sound strange. Despite the overuse of “faves,” this turkey burger seriously is out of this world. The addition of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt in the ground turkey yields SO much flavor.
The patty alone seared with those delicious spices could be a blog post by itself. But add a big dollop guacamole on top aaaaand let’s just call it drool fest 2016. I’m judging myself for everything I’ve written in this post so far.
Not only is this recipe SO ridiculously yummy, it is also just as ridiculously easy. The process of the turkey burgers only includes a few steps, and we keep the guac extremely simple. Just avocado, lime, garlic powder, and salt. Because I know you all have busy lives and love those quick weeknight meals.
There is just the perfect balance of everything here…the meat is hearty and bold in flavor, the guacamole is fresh and creamy and bright. Put them both together and you have THE perfect bite. Just call me Dr. Seuss, because I am rhymin’ all up in here. But in all seriousness…these mouthwatering turkey burgers are going be a repeating part of my weekly quick-and-easy meal routine for those late nights at work.
SO GOOD.
Alright so, as promised, I must share some of my travel adventure stories with you from this past weekend. There were some interesting turn of events in which I ended up making the very first flight to Charlotte on Saturday (YYAAASSSSS no waiting in airports for nine hour increments), BUT some other very…eventful…things happened.
I begin my tale on Friday night. Since the first flight left super suuuuper early on Saturday morning, I decided to drive to Kansas City on Friday night. I left work to head home right when school was over, thinking I would be able to get all my stuff done, hit the road to get to KC by a decent hour, and get some good rest. False.
It ended up taking me until nine pm to even get out the door. I am boarding my dog and my cat at two different places (Boone’s place doesn’t board cats), so I was driving around for like an hour and a half dropping them and the things they needed off. And then I had to fold a load of laundry, shower, pack, eat dinner, etc… Side note: packing was a strug fest because I had to fit a week’s worth of clothes and shoes into one small carry on. It was a challenge that I accepted and ended up completing at the cost of many refolds and reorganizations.
After I finished with all of that, I drove to Kansas City and got in around eleven pm.
Earlier in the day, I had googled the cheapest possible hotels near the airport that included a free breakfast (because…free food) and found one for like forty bucks. Got there at eleven pm….sketchiest place ever. Which I expected because it was forty bucks…
After a semi-interesting interaction with the front desk dude, I headed down to my super fancy five star quality room. Let me tell you guys something about the walls in this hotel. The expression “paper thin” takes on an entire new meaning in this place. I literally don’t even know how it is possible that I heard everything that I did. What was separating the rooms??? A half inch sheet of dry wall?? What happened!?!?
I couldn’t fall asleep until past one am because I could hear the guy snoring on one side of me, and I could hear some preeeetty uncomfortable stuff happening on the other side of me. I’m just going to leave it at that.
So then I woke up a few hours later to hit the “continental breakfast buffet”…………nope. They had two things: raisin bran and 2 danishes that the guy pulled out of a very precarious mini fridge. I didn’t want to insult what they did have (the front desk guy was right there), so I poured myself a bowl of like five raisin bran flakes and crunched my spoon around for a few minutes before throwing it away.
I don’t like raisin bran. But the fact that I made that very first flight and got into Charlotte at ten am versus seven pm made the sketchy midnight interactions, the paper-thin walls, and the “continental breakfast buffet” all worth it!
I hope you guys are having a wonderful week!

Black Bean and Quinoa Burger with Roasted Jalapeno Ranch
I have made this several times over the past year and it is a great, fast meal. I make it even a little faster by using Trader Joe’s Chili Lime spice in the guacamole – needs nothing else…really fast and easy, and tasty too!
Great idea on the guac short cut! I need to try that. Thanks for the comment, Deana – so glad this recipe is a hit for you!

New favorite!!! I had to talk myself out of eating two for dinner. I’m obsessed. And it’s soo easy to make. I could go on and on…
Yay! I’m so glad you loved these, Sara!!
We cooked this on our smoker tonight. So good! Thanks for the recipe! ♥️

Yum! I bet that was amazing. So glad the recipe turned out well for you!
Can this be used for the 80 Day Obsession meal plan?
I don’t know much about the 80 day obsession, but I think it just uses the 21 day fix meal plan and containers, right? I could be totally off on that, but if it uses the same meal plan as the 21 Day Fix, then this could totally be used!
Delicious! I had some homemade taco seasoning which is similar to the spices in this recipe so I used that. I also used “Wholly Guacamole” because I had some on hand. Lastly, I added a slice of pepper jack cheese. I probably didn’t deserve that blue container, but MAN was it good. Thanks for the awesome recipe.

Just curious, I saw one post about not needing a bun, can you, I live guacamole burgers & these sound so good. Do you serve it with some kind ofbpotatoes, roasted red potatoes, cauliflower mash or just some veggie like aspargus & such.
Thanks, Ruth! I usually serve these with some type of salad or roasted vegetable, but any of those sides that you mentioned sound great!
Made these tonight and really enjoyed them. They are a yummy healthy alternative for dinner. Never had guac on a burger until now and really liked it!

Yay, so glad you liked them! These are one of my faves!
Why is this made with 3/4 lb of turkey and only three servings? As most stores sell ground turkey in packs by the pound, why not make it 1lb of turkey for four servings…
My grocery store was selling it in 3/4 pound packs, but you are definitely free to up it to 1 pound and make it 4 burgers instead of 3.
I came here for the recipe and got caught up in the bonus story of your slumming in a precarious motel. :)
Oh goodness…that motel…so sketchy..!!
How many does this serve? I’m guessing not 25 mins :)
Haha – oh my goodness. No, you’re right; it definitely doesn’t serve 25 mins :)! This recipe makes three servings. I fixed it on the post – thanks for pointing it out!
These are amazing! I have made them a few times and have been craving them. I thought I lost my recipe and there was a bit of a panic, but I found it! I have also now added it to my pinterest board and printed a copy, these are now on the menu for this evening. Thanks so much for the recipe!

I am so glad you love them, Kindra! That makes my day :).
Does this recipe make 3 servings?
It does!
THAT GUAC THOUGH! These burgers look incredible! Who needs a bun?
When we ate meat, we made these ALL the time. Guacamole on a burger is a must!
